Overview / Responsibilities

Job title: Instrument Technician

Location: Cramlington
Duration: 6 month

Wood is currently recruiting for a COMPEX certified Instrument Technician to provide commissioning support to a Pharmaceutical project at Cramlington

Duties will include

• Installation and commissioning of full loops and instrumentation

• End to end loop commissioning

• Ability to follow plans to achieve milestones

• Fault finding and fix on process equipment, all types and style of digital and analogue instrumentation

• Ability to complete instrument calibrations following procedures

• Typical systems to work on waste water treatment and anaerobic digestors

• Ability to understand control loops and work with automation engineers when problem solving and commissioning support


• Knowledge of hydrocarbon/Industrial production systems and associated hazards

• Good understanding of process instrumentation

• Good knowledge of process control systems

• Good knowledge of fire and gas detection and ESD systems

• Clear understanding of cause and effect logic diagrams

• Fully familiar with the permit to work system and isolation procedures

Skills / Qualifications



• Recognised Instrument Apprenticeship or equivalent training scheme

• HNC in Control/ Instrumentation Engineering (Post 2009 apprenticeships)

• NVQ/SVQ Level 3 certification or equivalent in Maintenance

• COMPEX (Hazardous Areas) units -01 to 04

• CCNSG Safety Passport



• Pressure hydro testing certificate

• TSBT01&02 (to be completed as post mobilisation training on a 3 yearly refresher)
