Position Summary

The Software Development Engineer in Test works as part of an agile team responsible for the oversight, analysis, design, testing, and support of HCHB projects. The Software Development Engineer in Test will create project related automated tests and tools, automated performance tests, and automated regression tests as related to their work. A Software Development Engineer in Test may take on any of the following roles in a particular functional area or project work: Back Office Applications Tester, Mobile Applications Tester, Web Tester, Interface Tester, or Architecture Tester.

Primary Tasks, Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Masters tools and technologies related to testing principles and industry processes
  • Ensures project work meets company guidelines, regulatory expectations, and product delivered meets specifications provided
  • Represents the quality role and function on the agile team(s) and advocates for efficient and successful quality engineering activities, i.e. is the voice of quality.
  • Responsible for quality/testing approval sign off prior to deployment to Production
  • Advocates for process improvement and better collaboration between the quality role and other engineering roles within the agile team, e.g. developers, product owners, scrum masters, etc.
  • Mentors members of the team to be more effective in writing quality code and quality techniques
  • Creates, documents, and executes thorough manual and automated tests
  • Assists with the creation and management of testing environment(s)
  • Analyzes potential issues to determine if resolution or escalation is needed
  • Identifies user assumptions, system performance issues, and criteria for project success
  • Responsible for manual and automated test execution and resolving defects prior to product release to Production
  • Work with Product Owners and Scrum Team to plan for needs related to testing and automation
  • Serves as the go-to person/mentor for questions as well as research related to software quality activities and automation
  • Completes code reviews of automated scripts
  • Creates advanced SQL queries to be used with manual and automated testing
  • Responsible for architecture of automation framework and integration of tools used for developing scripts and running tests
Qualifications/Technical Skills:
  • Demonstrates an understanding of clinical and/or financial Home Healthcare processes and regulations is recommended
  • Software Development Experience in compiled languages like C#, C++ and Java and scripted languages like Python, Ruby, JavaScript, Unix Shell Scripting or PowerShell
  • Experience working in an agile software development environment.
    • Preference given to those with experience in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
  • 3+ years of experience with test planning, development, and execution related to large scale data and reporting projects
  • 3+ years of experience developing, executing, and analyzing automation tests
    • Preference given to candidates working with .NET languages
  • Understands automation framework design patterns
  • Experience in performance testing using a tool like JMeter, Gatling, Locust, LoadNinja, LoadRunner, or similar other tools
  • Ability to communicate with Product Owners to extract needed Acceptance Criteria
  • Preferred experience with REST/WebAPI service fundamentals
  • Preferred experience with Protractor, Postman/Newman, Microsoft UI Automation, Selenium WebDriver
  • Preferred experience with BDD / SpecFlow / Cucumber
